Some time back, I upgraded my systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Then I began having problems with my HP LaserJet P2055DN printer.
This printer works great, but is so old that it doesn’t integrate well with HPSmart.
Whenever I rebooted my systems, Windows would forget that the printer duplexed. I had to update the Properties to enable duplexing.
The printer was using the Microsoft Universal Print driver. I checked HP’s website and found they had a driver for the printer. After installing and configuring it, I had no more issues.
I recalled when the upgrade completed, I had two printer devices. I deleted one and continued on. I suspect the one I deleted was the device I originally set up with HP’s driver.
The key is to use HP’s driver.
