With more snow predicted tomorrow night, I thought I’d post some pictures from last vacation at Fripp Island, SC. I enjoy that the island is private, which means that there’s plenty of nature among the private houses. I go in the off-season, so few vacationers are roaming around.
The island has two golf courses. The picture below was taken on the driving range of Ocean Creek.
Yes, I think she was critiquing my swing.
If you look closely, you’ll see her ear sports a red tag. It means that she’s part of the population control group. The island has plenty of deer and the association has instituted deer birth control. Even after all of these years, I still manage to take 20 or 30 deer pictures.
The picture below was taken outside of the condo I rent. The deer aren’t supposed to be in this courtyard, but they manage to get in anyway. Several years ago, the person who I rent from and his buddy decided to scare off deer late one night. They used a gun with rock salt and shot the deer. The deer ran, but toward the owner. He got a little gored, and the deer were back again the next night.
The Gay Fish Company isn’t too far away from the island, maybe 15 to 20 minutes. They have a fleet of shrimp boats that you can sometimes see.
This was sunrise one morning on the beach.
The picture below was sunset near where you come onto the island.
Lastly, I try to take at least one artistic picture. The picture below is sunrise on the beach. It’s my favorite picture from the trip.
So, when the snow is falling, the wind is blowing, and school is closed, picture yourself here. It helps!
